Four Months Later....
Wow! I haven't blogged in four months and a day! It seems Twitter and Facebook have stolen my blogging thunder. It's so easy to type a quick little update here and there on either site, and then what's the point of blogging? Well, I'm going to try to update my active blogs at least once a month. More if I can get myself back in the habit.
So, what have I been doing as a writer? The Kindle conversion of most of my short and serial fiction is physically complete. What's prepared should all be released by the end of September. All that's left are my two novels, The Great Debate, and short fiction considered to be "novel tie-ins." To be specific, the novel tie-in stories are "The Escapist," "Music of the Metrognomes," and "Metrognomes: Worse than a Gremlin," all of which will be scheduled for Kindle conversion around the time of the re-issue of the novels they are connected with.
The hardback second edition of my short fiction collection The Great Debate has been designed for some time. We are still working out distribution, but it will most likely be out by the end of this year in both hardback and Kindle e-book formats. Cry, Wolf and Metrognomes: The Shaman's Apprentice should follow soon after.
Once all that is behind me, I can put all of my energy into new projects! Like The Legends of Nod #2 and the sequel to Cry, Wolf, both of which I've been pecking away at as time has permitted. The whole Kindle re-release of all of my work has admittedly been taking top priority, out of necessity, but these new projects are very much on my mind. I have such creative energy, and so many projects in my head! I honestly think I can still write several fairly involved works before year's end, including Metrognomes: Aradia's Wand. I'm very tempted to write the four remaining books in the Metrognomes series straight through. They are just that developed in my mind. I'm sure I can get book 2 written before the end of the year, even if I write the second Daniel Mason novel and the third Nightfire cycle first. Just gotta get these hardback releases squared away.
Meanwhile, October will see two new releases. The first will be the long awaited The Chronicles of Nightfire, Texas #14 "Immortal Heart," which I've had written for years! The release of this chapter has been delayed by a move from Hell, a flash drive crash from Hell, and various other calamities. I'm feeling much better now, thank you. :)
Also in October, just before Halloween, my latest novelette, Scarecrow, will be released for the Kindle. This particular story represents the future for me. I was so free when I wrote all but the very first of it. I held nothing back. That is how my writing will work from now on. I write what I want, how I want, and to Hell with anybody who says that I shouldn't. Scarecrow is one of the strangest things I've ever written. It's a bit Gremlins here and somewhat Friday the 13th there. Mostly though, I've never read anything like it. I love it, and I'm sure many of my readers will too. Especially fans of my late '90s/early 2000s work. It's twisted in a similar fashion to those early tales.
November will see the release of The Chronicles of Nightfire, Texas #15 "Into the Light," the concluding chapter in "The Haunting of Alexas Mansion" story arc. A third cycle will follow, which my mind tells me will be subtitled "White Devils." It will be a story about racism, yes, but surely the title refers to more than one kind of devil. It is Nightfire after all.
While we wait with bated breath for all of these things, please do check out my latest short story, "Benches," if you have the time and inclination. It just came out eight days ago and is my first new fiction release since last year's Night Light II: The Trial of Ooga Booga. It's a tale of philosophy and spirituality. It's all about life and death, but really it's all about life.
So there you have it. I've been silent on the blogfront, but extraordinarily busy. Thanks for sticking with me! :)
