Well, "Night Light II" will wind up being the first thing I publish in 2011! :D I'm still not finished with it, and it's going to be a novelette at this point, rather than a short story. Much longer than the original. I was hard at work on it tonight, when I realized I'd misplaced my outline! It's time to reorganize my work space. Perhaps I'll do that tonight. I also need to find a way to afford a new desk, since mine's been falling apart, quite literally ON me, for the past year and a half or so.

And with that, I say farewell to 2010. It's been a tremendously good year for me! :D I've really returned as a writer this year, and I'm very excited about all of the projects I'm working on for 2011! Happy new year, dear readers! May you be blessed! :D :D

Okay, it's been a couple weeks or so since I last blogged, and a lot's been going on! On the 11th, we announced that a new White Rock Youth episode called "How Do I Know What's Right?" will be posted on January 3.

On the 13th, season 2 of White Rock Youth kicked off with "Youth Sunday, Part 1," followed on the 14th by "Youth Sunday, Part 2." This was going to be a five-parter, but for legal reasons, the first part had to be cut, and that left us with two "adult only" episodes to start the season with...so we cut those too and just started with the youth. Each episode was added to GlennSladeClarkJr.com a day after premiering on YouTube.

On the 16th, the new 5th Edition of "Night Light" was published through Lulu.com in both eBook and paperback formats. Also, The Chronicles of Nightfire, Texas #13 "The Mines of Sangra Dios" and The Legends of Nod #1 "The Dragons of Nod" were at long last released in paperback.

On the 17th, the "Night Light" page on GlennSladeClarkJr.com received a complete makeover and links were added to the 5th edition. A Special Features page and a Merchandise page were added for "Night Light" as well. A link was also added on the Nightfire #13 page to the new paperback.

The Nightfire and Nod paperbacks will be reformatted at some point to match the other paperbacks that have recently been released. For now, after the Web site crash earlier this year, the main goal was to have them in print. So, for now, they have just been released in paperbacks that match the design of their eBooks.

I've been doing a lot of directing and planning for the White Rock Youth YouTube series. We have a lot of silly things coming up. The goal is to do 30 episodes this season, ending in late May.

I've also made the decision that I do want to share my Christmas Eve ghost story, but it will be next year, since I don't want to rush a redraft that will very likely be extensive. I'm still hoping to get "The Trial of Ooga Booga" posted before the end of the year, which is why the new edition "Night Light" was published this month.

Lost of other things are in the works as well! I look forward to announcing them. :D

Merry Christmas!

Glenn

Nothing major to report this week. Things are still moving forward on the hardback release of Metrognomes: The Shaman's Apprentice, as well as two other hardback release. The first of these is the long postponed collected edition of The Chronicles of Nightfire, Texas #1-3 in the form of a novella entitled The Vampire Murders. The second is a collection of my haiku poetry, including some new ones, for which I have just recently engaged an illustrator whose energy very much fits with the spirit of the book.

The Metrognomes re-issue ran into a snag last week in formatting. Who knew it would be so hard to prevent changes from being made? The goal is to not make this edition any different, page layout-wise, from the paperback and eBook releases of 2007. The problem is in keeping the headers from altering, but progress is being made, tediously. The hard part, as I anticipate it, will be the legal end of true self publication and getting the book available through the same distribution channels as the previous releases. I am still hopeful that this book will see release before the end of the year, as well the other two mentioned above.

I have also re-examined the prospect of releasing my latest short story, which is a tale of horror called "The Christmas Spirit." I may alter the title a bit, and add a rather large scene at the beginning, maybe a little at the end...but I think I may let the world have it after all. I was recently researching the line from the song "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" in which it is stated "there'll be scary ghost stories and tales of the glories of Christmases long, long ago." As it turns out, there is an old Victorian era tradition that involves the telling of "scary ghost stories" on Christmas Eve. I was thrilled at this discovery! I felt validated. This is simply something, at least here in America, that has been lost. I'd like to try and breathe new life into the "Christmas Eve Ghost Story" genre. I've found a book of old Christmas ghost stories that I intend to order. I'm fascinated by this idea. What a mad, fun addition to the holiday!

More as things develop!

"Metrognomes: Worse than a Gremlin" was published in its third edition in both eBook and paperback formats on November 26. We also added an extensive "Special Features" section with never before seen artwork, alternate cover designs, lots of behind the scenes info about how the story came together, etc.

I wrote a new short story the other night. I started writing it Saturday night and finished it just after midnight, November 28. It was called "The Christmas Spirit," and it may never see the light of day. I am presently unsatisfied with it, finding it much too dark and amoral. I may add a layer of redemption to the story, but at this point I'm not sure.

My current focus is the hardback release of Metrognomes: The Shaman's Apprentice, which I hope to have out this month. I've no idea how close to the mark I'll hit, however, so I will keep you posted as the project progressess.

I also recieved the newly marked The Chronicles of Nightfire, Texas #14 "Immortal Heart" from my editor Monday evening. There were only two pages marked throughout the entire manuscript. Very gratifying. :)

So, now I'm taking the plunge and starting the ride that will lead to my third book in hardback. It's going to be an intense process, but will ultimately open the doors for a number of things in the future, should I succeed. I'm really pushing the envelope with this one, as far as what I can do with small press. All prayers are welcome! :D
